This is one of my favorite books !! (I also like the hobbit) I also know EXACTLY how you feel about Aragorn.
I'm going to check out some of your stuff, I am always looking for a good read. I don't know if you like crime novels, but check out Mafiya by Charlie Stella. It was one of the best books I read all year.

I have found the same as well. The Terry Goodkind Sword of Truth series is one that I just can't read any more. There's certainly some character growth, definitely changes, but even though I loved the first, enjoyed the next two (maybe three), by the fifth one, I was forcing myself to read it; and I couldn't get through more than the first 200 pages of the sixth. I never have figured out what turned me off of it.

On the other hand, I love the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Considering how many characters there are, and how relatively little space there is for each one, I still feel as if I've learned something about the characters, and that they've learned something about themselves. Except for book ten, which I had to persevere to get through, I've loved the whole series, including the prequel.

I'd like to believe that it is just character growth that keeps a series from getting too old. But I have read too many series (like Patricia Cornwall) where the character changed and I still got tired of it. And then there is Ann George's southern sisters series where nothing ever changed and I just loved every book. I wish I knew the secret.

Anyone who's got the talent to write (and has the guts to try making a living at it!) is a brave soul, and surely lights the way up the mountain for those of us who follow behind ;-}

I'm delighted that you enjoyed HOW I PAID FOR COLLEGE and hope you feel the same way about ATTACK OF THE THEATER PEOPLE. I'm also flattered to be included on your list of favorite authors. Being a novelist is an uphill climb and I need all the sherpas I can get. THANK YOU.
